Recording my presentation whilst I'm practising it - this will help me find things which I need to improve and amend.
Apparently, I didn't appear nervous - I think public speaking in this format is something which I have always found really nerve racking but as I have done so many crits throughout first and second year as well as presentations this has helped calm my nerves but its difficult for me to pick up on this.
They had suggested to not hold something which is quite bulky like a Notebook as this can be quite distracting and appear somewhat unprofessional - I had said that the reason why I was holding this was that it was more of a comfort thing and acted as a barrier between myself and the audience.
A suggestion from them for this was to hold a water bottle instead as its something which is less noticeable.
General feedback which they had given to everyone included ...
- Making it playful
- Practice makes perfect
- The more you know what your pitching, the better you will be able to sell it
When we had been set the brief for this workshop I panicked knowing that I had two hours to prepare a presentation based off anything - the open-ended theme for this didn't help as I went into a full-blown panic about what to base this presentation on as well as my actual presentation as well. For this reason, I thought I would start to base my presentation on myself - or an aspect of myself and I thought I would cover in a minute the growth of my confidence throughout the duration of my time of being at LAU.
As well as this I thought I would take a risk by putting up a selfie of myself as I knew that this would be something which normally would terrify me but considering it would only been on the screen for a minute I thought I would try this. As this kind of helped me in a way of distracting the focus of me collecting my thoughts together as the audience watches the presentation - I may embed this into my actual final presentation.
